Developing Washington's Workforce

Your company can share collective experience and work together to impact the next generation of leaders.

Since 1976, Washington Business Week has partnered with companies and educators to prepare Washington’s students for their careers. Together, we’ve helped to create 75,000+ leaders who are more prepared to lead the workforce.

We’re proud to be a piece of what makes Washington a national & worldwide leader in career education.

Our model only works when companies partner to support the state’s students.

What is Washington Business Week?

Founded in 1976, through a partnership between The Association of Washington Business, the President of Central Washington University, and the Superintendent of Public Instruction, Washington Business Week teaches students across the region business, finance, leadership, and entrepreneurship, through our unique program connecting students with businesses and their leaders.

Our programs strengthen the Washington economy and business community by supporting students across the state to help them be better employees, employers, and business owners. With most students coming from low income or marginalized communities, WBW is working to provide more opportunity to more young people across the state.

Companies support WBW because our programs create economic opportunity, develop the next generation of local leaders, and strengthen the Washington business community.

Group Volunteer Opportunities

Our students say one of the most powerful parts of Washington Business Week is the opportunity to meet real-world professionals and hear their stories.

As company advisors, your team can work together to coach and mentor the next generation of business leaders. There are also opportunities to be on discussion panels, judge student trade shows, and so many more possibilities for your company to get involved together!

Our greatest need for volunteers is in the summer when we bring hundreds of students from across the state together to attend one of our programs on a college campus.

Employee Development

Washington Business Week provides a novel form of employee development where your team can volunteer, give back, and learn.

Our Company Advisor program has been used by some of the region’s most innovative companies as a way to up-skill and train their employees and bring them back to work more engaged.

Your team will learn key leadership lessons with expert support from Washington Business Week and the state’s best leaders.

With the option to send employees as volunteers or to pair it with a paid course, WBW offers ways for companies of any budget to get involved in supporting their workforce today while preparing tomorrow’s.

“The challenge with most leadership courses is that you need time to adopt new behavior habits, and new habits require immediate practice, more practice, and feedback. This program is all about real-time feedback.”
